Avocado Oil Supplier Kenya

Kenya is one of the world's largest producers of avocado oil, pressing Hass and Fuerte fruit into crude, extra virgin and refined oils for food, cosmetic and pharmaceutical manufacturers.

Overview

Avocado oil is extracted from the flesh (mesocarp) of mature avocados by mechanical cold-pressing (decanter centrifuge) without solvents. Kenyan processors near the central highlands work with tens of thousands of smallholder growers, making use of fruit that is not exported fresh.

We supply three main grades. Crude oil is sold to refiners. Extra virgin (cold-pressed, unrefined) oil keeps its emerald colour and avocado flavour for culinary and premium cosmetic use. Refined (RBD โ€” refined, bleached, deodorised) oil is pale, neutral and stable for cosmetics, personal care and high-heat cooking.

Typical buyers: Cosmetic manufacturers, food processors, oil distributors and ingredient suppliers.

Types, varieties, grades & specifications

4 types available. Specifications are typical; exact parameters are confirmed per lot on the quotation and certificate of analysis.

Type 1 of 4

Extra Virgin Avocado Oil (cold-pressed)

Unrefined, emerald-green culinary and cosmetic oil with fresh avocado aroma.

Extra virgin avocado oil is pressed from the flesh of fresh, ripe Hass avocados using a mechanical decanter process at low temperature, without chemicals or refining. It keeps its emerald-green colour (from chlorophyll), a buttery avocado and mushroom aroma, and natural vitamin E and phytosterols. It is the premium culinary grade and a favourite in natural skin-care.

Typical uses & buyers

  • Premium culinary oil (dressings, finishing, cooking)
  • Retail bottled oil and gourmet brands
  • Natural and organic skin-care
  • Hair oils and massage oils

Type 2 of 4

Virgin / Crude Avocado Oil

Mechanically pressed, unrefined crude for refiners and industrial users.

Crude avocado oil is the unrefined oil from mechanical pressing of whole or out-grade fruit, sometimes including skins and lower-grade fruit. It has higher free fatty acids and a dark green-brown colour. It is sold mainly to refineries that process it into refined (RBD) avocado oil, and to industrial users.

Typical uses & buyers

  • Raw material for avocado oil refineries
  • Industrial soaps and oleochemicals
  • Animal feed oil
  • Technical cosmetic bases (after refining)

Type 3 of 4

Refined Avocado Oil (RBD)

Pale yellow, neutral oil with a high smoke point โ€” for cosmetics, personal care and food service.

Refined avocado oil is crude oil that has been degummed, neutralised, bleached and deodorised. The result is a clear, pale-yellow, almost odourless oil with very low acidity and excellent oxidative stability. Its high smoke point makes it a premium frying and food-service oil, while its neutrality makes it a standard emollient in cosmetics.

Typical uses & buyers

  • High-heat cooking, frying and food service
  • Mayonnaise, dressings and food manufacturing
  • Creams, lotions and cosmetics
  • Pharmaceutical carrier oil
