Sudan is the world's largest producer of gum arabic and a major exporter of sesame, groundnuts, hibiscus (karkadeh), cotton and live sheep and goats to the Gulf.
Sudan's savannah 'gum belt' across Kordofan, Darfur, Gedaref, Blue Nile and White Nile states produces most of the world's gum arabic, used as an emulsifier and stabiliser (E414) in soft drinks, confectionery and pharmaceuticals. Rain-fed farming in Gedaref and Sennar makes Sudan one of the largest sesame exporters, and the Gezira scheme grows long-staple cotton.
Since April 2023 Sudan has been affected by armed conflict, which disrupts production, banking and inland transport. Port Sudan on the Red Sea remains the main export gateway. We work only with established, screened exporters, confirm availability per order and apply enhanced sanctions and due-diligence checks to every transaction.
