Sizes, season, quality specs, reefer logistics and documents for importers buying Kenyan Hass and Fuerte avocados.
Read guide →Product 03 · Export from Kenya
Kenya is Africa's largest avocado exporter. Grown on rich volcanic soils at altitude, Kenyan Hass and Fuerte avocados offer creamy texture, high oil content and long shelf life for sea freight.
Our avocados come from smallholder groups and commercial orchards in central and western Kenya, packed in KEPHIS-registered packhouses. Fruit is harvested at regulated maturity (dry matter testing), graded, packed and pre-cooled before loading into reefer containers with controlled atmosphere.
We supply Hass for retail and ripening programmes, and Fuerte (green-skin) for markets that prefer it. Processing-grade fruit is also available for oil and pulp.
Typical buyers: Produce importers, ripening centres, supermarket suppliers, fruit distributors and wholesalers.
4 types available. Specifications are typical; exact parameters are confirmed per lot on the quotation and certificate of analysis.
Type 1 of 4
Pebbly skin that turns purple-black when ripe; nutty, creamy flesh. The global retail standard.
Hass is the world's leading avocado variety and Kenya's main export type. The fruit is oval with thick, pebbly skin that turns from green to purple-black as it ripens — a clear ripeness signal for consumers. Kenyan Hass grown at altitude reaches high dry matter, giving a creamy, nutty, buttery flesh with good oil content. Its tough skin makes it ideal for long sea-freight journeys in controlled-atmosphere reefers.

Smooth green skin that stays green when ripe; mild, buttery flesh. Popular in the Middle East.
Fuerte is a pear-shaped, smooth, thin-skinned green avocado that stays green when ripe. Its flesh is mild, smooth and buttery with slightly lower oil than Hass. Fuerte is popular in the Middle East and some European markets, and its earlier season helps extend Kenya's supply window.
