Overview

Uganda is one of the world's leading vanilla origins after Madagascar. Its two growing seasons allow two harvests a year. Vanilla planifolia (Bourbon) is grown by smallholders in central Uganda and around the Rwenzoris, hand-pollinated, harvested ripe, then blanched, sweated and slow-cured for months to develop rich, creamy aroma with high vanillin content.
